🐍 Throw the Viper into the Fire!
After his third missionary journey, Paul went to Jerusalem, where he was arrested. While being escorted to Rome to stand trial before Caesar, he encountered a violent storm. In the face of death, by God’s help, Paul and those with him miraculously survived and landed on the island of Malta.
While gathering sticks to build a fire, a viper bit Paul, but he shook it off into the flames and remained completely unharmed.
There is mystery, eternal love, life, power, and wisdom in the name of Jesus.
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
— Mark 16:17–18
Just as Paul was bitten by a venomous snake and simply shook it off into the fire,
we too must cast into the fire—in Jesus’ name—the things that afflict, weaken, and poison us.
Believe in Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, buried, and rose again on the third day, who conquered sin, death, and crushed the serpent’s head. He ascended to heaven and now intercedes for us at the right hand of God. He is preparing a place for us in the heavenly kingdom to which we are going.
Let us all trust in Jesus, receive healing, restoration, strength, and new hope with thanksgiving!
